DiY epoxy project using your change
My cents and change project

So here is one of my latest projects using one of my all time favorites, epoxy

resin. I am really not all the way finished with this, but I decided to get it out here.

Partially because I think it’s really neat, and I can sometimes lose projects if they get put off for too long.

My project when done

So to get it started I found an old box that was long and skinny as you can see in my picture below. It had plenty of depth to it also. I didn’t use most of the depth however.

I didn’t have that much change in my change jar. So I knew I had to keep it pretty shallow, so I didn’t run out of change.

And it actually took more change than what I thought it would. I added in all of the change types. Except for quarters. Now that would have been getting a little expensive for me!

But I put in an assortment of pennies, nickels, and dimes. And just be sure if you try this project that it’s change you know you will never need again. Because once it’s in the epoxy and cured, it’s a wrap!

It’s going to be hell trying to get it out of it and actually trying to use it again. So be sure that it’s something you can afford and won’t be trying to get back into it like you do when you rob your piggy bank. This is not your piggy bank! It’s a lot harder to rob than your standard piggy bank.

This project you can see my granddaughter and my daughters in the picture that is sitting on top of a bunch of change that is set in epoxy resin,
My box all lined with plastic so the resin doesn’t stick

So after I got my box picked out I found some plastic to line it with. In the picture above you can see my plastic inside of the box. Fliers I found in the dumpster of local flooring store.

They had thrown away all the plastic fliers they get as a business to put up everywhere. Lots of posters like osha standards and drug testing fliers. So they have come in really handy for me while doing certain projects.

Then after you get your box lined with plastic, you will want to add your picture to the back of the box. I sat mine down in it and then taped it to make it stay secure. You need it to be in place until you pour your epoxy over the entire thing. Then the epoxy will secure and protect it.

But epoxy is not like a super glue where you get instant results. It takes a little bit of time to get it to cure all the way. So you are now ready to pour your epoxy resin. And you will want to be sure that you pour enough to cover all of your change, and you will want to make sure and cover your picture with epoxy also.

Make sure and let it cure all of the way before messing with it any. 24 hours and you should be very good! Oh and as you may have noticed there is a little saying on mine in front of my pictures.

Shop Epoxy Resin Now

I came up with this little saying just for my change project. So that I had something relevant to what I had in there. And so the cents and the change tied in wonderfully with the whole thing. So that is pretty much it when it comes to this project. So good luck to all of you out there. And don’t forget to follow me for many more DiY projects in the future. May all of your projects turn out awesome!

I am 47 and have 3 grown daughters. And I have 1 granddaughter who I am crazy about! I am a recovering heroin addict who has now been clean for over 7 years now. Well I should say clean from needles for that amount of time. I can’t say completely clean because my Dr’s had me on methadone pills for a while when I was first released from the hospital. I then self medicated myself and went to a Dr for a while for suboxone. Which I then used to get myself off of the methadone pills. I was paralyzed as a result of using needles. My Dr’s never thought that I would walk again with the amount of infection they had to remove from my spinal cord. Yet I am now walking! Unassisted even. I do not require a cane or anything to walk now, is what I mean by unassisted. I do better with a cane but I can actually do it without it. So I have been back to school and almost have my associates degree in general studies. I was focusing on going to school to be a drug and alcohol counselor. I have changed my mind on that now and I have been focusing on doing affiliate sales and working on my website. These projects that I have been doing for the last 4-5 years is what has been literally saving my life! And keeping me off of the drugs! I am trying to bring about some awareness concerning addiction and what can happen to a person if they use needles with my website. Though I changed my mind on working as a counselor I still want to try and help others out there who are still struggling with their addictions. So I hope that you will follow me either on my blog or my Facebook pages and help support getting addicts the help that they really need. Instead of the stereotype labels they get here in America as well as the criminal label they acquire when they cannot just quit their use of drugs or alcohol.
